They also advertise a short nature trail. Additionally, I've been told about a hike to a nearby creek that starts at or near the cavern. I'll try to get more info.

This popular 45-minute tour into the cave is suitable for the whole family. Professionally guided, the tour descends through well-lighted marble passages into the magnificent natural wonder. Descending down 234 stairs to a depth of 165 feet below the ground, the tour ends on the spot were scientific excavations revealed the bones of prehistoric people who had fallen into the cavern thousands of years ago. Guides explain the history and geology of the cavern, and discuss the explorations that have traced the cavern to its current depth of 410 feet. For safety reasons, we do not allow children to be carried in backpacks on this tour. Small babies in front packs/slings are okay. Please note: caves are naturally muddy and humid - please dress appropriately. Underground temperature 61°F year round.

The Rappel Tour - Ages 12+ $65.00 (1 hour)
Descend by rope 165 feet into the huge main chamber of Moaning Cavern! No experience is necessary, and gloves,
hard-hat, and the highest quality rappelling equipment are provided. Adventurous people from all walks of life are thrilled by this unique and exciting opportunity to try something new! Total trip time is approximately 45 minutes.

Participants must be at least 12 years old, and special restrictions apply. There are five ways a minor child (aged 12 to 17) may rappel at Moaning Cavern:

Moaning Cavern now offers an above ground, no experience necessary, high adrenaline rush. Race a friend or family member on our incredible 1500-foot twin zip line, at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour, for the thrill of your life! Check out our new zip line videos.

Regular Zip
Take off from the launch tower in an upright position. Stay seated, or let go of webbing to lay back. Race a friend or family member on our dual zip lines if you wish.
Tandem Zip
Two people zip together sharing a trolley, for a maximum combined weight of 280 lbs. Both people are in full rigging.

Visitors approach the massive launch tower by crossing a 60-foot long sky bridge before being strapped into a full-body climbing harness and then rigged to the cable. Bring a ?ready for anything? friend because the double cables mean zippers can race the zip line in pairs. One small step off the platform and you are zooming across the beautiful Gold Country foothills at speeds in excess of 40 miles an hour, in a 1/4 mile race to the landing tower.

The zip line launch tower is located conveniently just a couple of minutes walk from Moaning Cavern's visitor center. The cable follows a length of the above ground nature trail taking in some beautiful Gold Country scenery above the treetops.

A zip line Release & Waiver of Liability form must be completed for this activity.

Weight requirements are subject to conditions of the day including temperature and wind speed. Usual weight range is around 70 to 260 pounds.

Take ramp onto US-50 E toward Sacramento/I-80-BR E
Take the Power Inn Road/Howe Avenue exit toward Howe Ave./Power Inn Road (CA-16), Turn Right on Howe Ave., Turn Left on Folsom Blvd., Bear Right on CA-16, Bear Right on CA-49, Continue on S. Main St. (CA-4), Bear Left on CA-4.

From Stockton:
Take Highway 4 east. Turn right at Angels Camp. Continue approximately one mile through historic downtown Angels Camp. At the Highway 4 east sign, turn left. Travel approximately 10 minutes, then turn right on Parrotts Ferry Road at the Moaning Cavern sign. Go one mile, then turn right on Moaning Cave Road. Take the road to the end and park in the parking lot. The visitors center is on the right.
