Requested by Maria Wilson Sky Trail L oop in Point Reyes National Seashore 9.6 mile loop Claims intermediate, bu t may be strenuous for some 1800 feet elevation gain It basically climbs d own to the ocean from Sky Camp, over to Coast Camp, and then back up agai n. We'll meet at the Bear Valley Visitor Center to use the restrooms and f ill the cars, for there is limited parking at the trail head. Then drive t o the Limantour Road staging area (small dirt parking lot) to begin our hik e. We'll climb 1.3 miles to Sky Camp where there is another bathroom, and continue on the Sky Trail along Iverness Ridge until we meet the Woodward Trail where we'll turn right. It descends steeply to the coast. At the jun ction of the Coast Trail, turn right again and continue to Coast Camp wher e there is another bathroom and beach access. This is where we'll stop for lunch, enjoy the beach for awhile, and rest up for the climb back up. Con tinue the Coast Trail a short distance to the Laguna Trail turn right and g o about one mile to the Fire Trail and again turn right. This is a long 2.3 mile stretch of ups and downs climbing back up to the top of Sky Trail. Wh en you hit Sky Trail turn left back to the cars. No dogs allowed per park rules. Contact: Shannon B. Turn right and dr ive about 100 yards to Bear Valley Road. Turn left and drive .7 miles to th e left turn for the visitor center. Meet by the big map. Directions to Sk y Trail trail head from the Bear Valley Visitor Center Left out of parking lot Left on Bear Valley Road for ~2 miles to Limantour Road Left on Limant our Road for ~3 miles to staging area on the left (signed)
