Table Mountain, Cherokee Museum, North Sierra Foothills History a nd Hiking

SacramentoTrailMix.com

Fun trip to North Table Mountain near Oroville for excellent afternoon/evening views of the sunset over the Sacr amento Valley, Sutter Buttes, and surrounding hills. Wildflowers should b e available. Water falls cascade over the western edge of the mountain. The old town of Cherokee is nearby with a museum and several remains of a once thriving gold mining development. An old Western Pacific caboose is also d isplayed there. There is a really cool covered bridge near the town of Oreg on City. Go to Wikipedia for some good information on these and other adjac ent sites. We'll carpool from the Sunsplash in Roseville and drive to Orov ille and begin our touring extravaganza. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen , flashlight, snacks, and money for a possible cowboy dinner on the way h ome. This is an excellent hike. I've been there a few times. There are no designated trails. Table Mountain is relatively flat with some shallow rav ines. Elevation variance is 100 feet or less. Terrain is volcanic rock with large areas of meadow grass. Several streams run through. Area reminds me of a California Milk commercial. Call Aaron @ 916-203-1308 Good times!
